Talk about beating a dead horse. I think I've just typed overweight and overseas about 3x in the past 3minutes. It is the name of my blog, the name of my web address and now the name of this post. I am not sure who all will end up reading this, but for now, its nice to just be able to put my thoughts, struggles and accomplishments on paper, or computer :p. I am starting a lifestyle change. I live in El Puerto De Santa Maria, Spain with my husband, two daughters and my sidekick for life, Cooper. When I got married at the ripe old age of 18, I didn't know who I was yet, or who I was going to be. I was just head over heals with my best friend. He soon then enlisted in the military and I was knocked up. I gained a substation amount of weight. I was young, and literally took the 'eating for two' to a whole new level. Our beautiful first daughter was born. He left for basic training and tech school, so from march until september he was gone. We moved from our home in the mitten, to the desert in Tucson AZ. Shortly after living there for a few months, I had lost about 20lbs, but then found out I was pregnant again. I didnt gain as much weight the first time around, but I did gain back my 20lbs previously lost, plus. Our second beautiful daughter was born. My weight yo-yo'd back and forth. In 2010 my husband deployed. I went back to the mitten and was the legal drinking age. I think between the stress of the deployment, mamas good home cookin and beer, I gained even more weight. In the beginning of 2011 we got orders to Rota Spain. I decided I was going to take control of my health. I started to work out in the mornings and afterwards, I would drink my pepsi and chain smoke on my porch while reading. Some health control I had huh? In the fall of 2011, my daughters began preschool. I had 4hours in the morning to myself. I started just going to the library for peace. I would order a cafe con leche and sit outside, while reading and smoking. I eventually started going to the gym. I lost 15lbs. I went back to the states in the summer of 2012. When I would lay out, or go swimming I had a few friends comment on how it looked like i had lost weight. It made me feel confident, and good about myself. Again though, going back to the mitten with all the home cooked meals and the readily, 24hr fast food places, beer and lack of sleep, I gained a ton of weight. When we got home, to spain, in september, I decided I'd quit smoking. September 10th was my last cigarette! :) go me! I've been regularly going to the gym and trying to not lose weight, although that is my ultimate goal, i'm trying to accept myself. I'm trying to push myself and see what I'm made of. On January 14, 2013 I started two challenges. One is Rotas biggest loser. Which is held by the gym here on base. I am bound and determined to win this. And the other is not really a challenge, but it is at the same time. My girlfriend is a beachbody coach. She has a support/challenge group that I am apart of and on top of my workouts at the gym, she is keeping me accountable for my workouts at home and clean eating. This blog is going to document what I eat, what workouts I do and how i feel throughout the day, depending on when I have time to get on the computer. Between swim lessons, girl scouts, volunteering at my daughters school and being a key spouse for my husbands command, my days all feel pretty packed. But I decided it is time to do something for me. Time to take control of my life and show everyone what I am made of. Hopefully once I get the hang of this whole blogging thing, I'll be able to add pictures and recipies :) and HOPEFULLY, once all is said and done, come beach season, where in Spain, clothing is optional, i will look damn good and feel good in a sexy black bikini!
So I guess since I'm starting on Friday, I will fill you all in on my week. On monday my husband came home! YAY!! I woke up and got my eldest on the bus and then came home and started to workout. I did Jillian Michaels 30day shred. That woman is a beast! and actually by time i showered and drove the 30minutes to the airport, I was late picking him up! I decided that I needed to commit to my support group and do my p90x workout. It was chest and back. Anyone who has done a p90x workout knows how intense they are. my workout on monday consisted of:
Push ups - 12 the first round and 12 the second (12/12)
Wide pull ups- 10/10
military push ups - 6/6
reverse grip chin ups - 10/10
widefly push ups - 12/7
close grip overhand pull ups - 12/10
decline push ups 10/7
heavy pants - 15/12 - both at 10lbs weights
diamond push ups - 9/5
lawnmowers - 15/15 - each arm 2x at 10lb weights
dive bomber push ups - 5/1
backflys - 10/10 - both at 10lb weights
I was exhausted but it felt so good!!
On Tuesday I went and volunteered in Leahs class. God bless teachers is all I have to say. While I was picking Sophia up from school at noon, my husband suprised me with a lunch date! We went to eat and then came home. It was time to workout before Leahs bus. It was plyometrics. I didnt keep track of what the workouts were, but it was a lot of squats and jump training. my legs are still screamin at me!
On Wednesday I stayed home with my husband since he was given the day off. Sophia and I played hooky. I made Leah go to school though. I know it sounds bad, but sophia is still only in preschool which we pay for, so i dont feel bad keeping her home sometimes. well anyways it was time for shoulders and arms. these are the workouts:
Alternating shoulder press - 15/12 -at 10lbs each
In and out bicep curls - 8/10
two arm tricep kick backs - 10/10
deep swimmers press - 10/13
full arm bicep curls - 10/10
chair dips - 12/12
upright rows - 12/12
static arm curls - 16/16
flip grip twist kickbacks - 5/5
backflys - 7/10
crouching cohen curls - 10/12
lying down tricep extensions - 10/10
This is one of my favorite workouts. It is challenging, but not to the point where I can't do the moves. I think before long i'll need to step my weights up. I use 10lb weights for all of my exercises
On thursday I went to the gym and took my zumba class. I am in LOVE with zumba. It might not be the most effective way to lose weight but it keeps my heart rate up and it is so much fun! I can get down! haha, no I cant, but its still fun. Afterwards I went to the grocery store, got a few items, picked Sophia up and came home to nap. I was exhausted.

I was dripping sweat 1/2 through and I felt so energized and full of power afterwards that i even cleaned my kitchen, did 2 loads of laundry, swept, mopped and vaccumed! and by time Kyle rolled out of bed at 1030 I was done!
So this is this past week. I know this is entirely way too long, but i guess its more for me than you anyways. But if anyone has any questions, or words of wisdom, or support, please spread the love!
